Maximum upgraded SSD read / write speeds on 2015 MacBook Pro dual-core i5 with Sequoia

I have an early 2015 MacBook Pro with 8GB RAM and a 250GB hard drive, which I’m considering replacing with a Samsung NVMe 970/990 1TB.

I’m pretty set on using OCLP to upgrade to Sequoia, which according to this sub generally seems more responsive / more stable than Sonoma.

My question is whether I am likely to see faster read and write speeds on a newer larger SSD than the original, or if there are limitations on the MacBook’s hardware that might somehow limit any speed gains?

I’m not sure I really need the extra drive space, so am just trying to decide if a replacement SSD is likely to yield speed gains, as well as storage.
