Borrowing the old mac of my sister to be a bit more mobile for a month and used OCLP. It was a bit of a struggle to get this thing going since I had to completely wipe the old disk and didnt really know how to get it started.
At first I installed the Lion OS since it was the default, but almost nothing worked including internet/browsing, was a struggle to figure out why, guess everything was too outdated including security keys and other things. Ended up making a USB installer for Success' href='/2020/12/install-macos-catalina-on-supported-pc.html'>Catalina to get it going and then it was somewhat useable, although only Firefox really worked to install OCLP. Settled on Sonoma and it was a bit sluggish at first, found out i have to disable CPUfriend and firmware throttling in OCLP and after that it felt quite fast. Also using mac fan control and turbo boost switcher and it hovers at about 60°C with 2000rpm fans, so its warm but quiet.
Its decently snappy for light work/university and it exceeds my expectations, since even have raycast, alttab and some other light apps in the background didnt destroy its performance like I thought it would.
