Ignore app updates
Hi guys! Does anyone know how to stop the patcher app from checking for updates/notifying when there is a new update available? I have OCLP installed on a lot of systems, so there is an option in the patcher settings to “ignore app updates” but this doesn't seem to have any effect. What could I do about? Thanks!

Bootloader icon order for APFS volumes?
This one has me stumped: I have a late Intel-era machine that I've successfully set up with a Mojave partition (first), a Monterey partition (second), and a small 650mb Mojave recovery partition (last, and it was a bit of a trick getting it to display at the end given that the first two partitions are APFS, and the Mac bootloader will typically list MacOS extended partitions first). So far so good, and Windows and Linux distros are purring inside Parallels VMs.
Anyway, to save drive space and alleviate longterm SSD wear-leveling concerns, I created a new APFS volume in the Mojave partition, and copied over Monterey into it w/CCC6, then deleted the Monterey partition. Next restart, I held down option and noticed Monterey's icon was displaying before Mojave's in bootloader order. After considerable monkeying around remaking and shifting around partitions and volumes, I've determined that Apple would not permit the older OS to display before the newer one in an APFS volume-set. (Whether this is glitchy happenstance or deliberate FU to user wishes I do not know as yet.)
-- What Terminal (or utility) wizardry will overcome this?
(Note: I am NOT asking how to set a default startup disk, as that's just a user-setting that will be borked by a PRAM zap, and likely anything else that reenables SIP, such as installing a new OS version into another volume, etc.)

Sequoia Update Hangs & Boot Loops on Phase 2
![]() |
Hey hope all are well! I've got my EFI working fine on Ventura and Sonoma, but it will not boot the installer (phase 2) for the update to Sequoia. Here's a video and here's some pictures it's kind of tough to get the exact line that caused the reboot. it often used to be the last one before it crashed, but in this case I can see it shuts down by command for some reason Also, I tried SecureBootModel Disabled and AdviseFeatures, as well as disabling Wi-Fi kexts (I don't even have any), even CPUFriend, I tried changing to iMac19,2 as well as RestrictEvents + revpatch=sbvmm 14700k, Z790 Aero G. any ideas? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |

Macbook 5,2 "White" upgrade - FAILURE
![]() | Oh dear, another death. My white baby was about 117 versions behind on Ventura. Also, WiFi connection was extremely dodgy - great when connected, but it often didn't or got "lost" The install has stalled with 16 minutes to go. The install disk is newly created, is targeted for correct machine, has OLCP 2.3.2 on it, and should run. It is not clear to me why this happened. The machine has been on OCLP for years and has been through 2 major versions of macOS Suggestions? [link] [comments] |

Updated sequoia on mac pro 4,1/5,1 easy peasy
My first update since installing oclp. Went smooth as can be. I found contradicting advice on the process so here's what I did in case it helps anyone.
- Update oclp to latest version, install root patches etc, let it reboot.
- Update via regular software updates in settings. Oclp will popup and say that it sees you're attempting an update so can it do it's thing? Say yes. Both mac update and oclp do their things downloading and rebooting.
- System comes back up. For me Bluetooth and internet didn't work so I had to plug a USB keyboard and mouse in to get through the prompts.
- Once in oclp asks to run root patches again. It does, reboots, and voila, everything works again with all my settings still there.
- Swith off automatically download updates.

Updates not “taking”
I’ve got two old MBPs from 2011 and 2013 that I’m trying to update to 15.4. The updates show up, the process seems to start but after reboot the Macs are still reporting 15.3. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong here?
Bonus question
How the hell do I get rid of the “macOS installer” from my boot options?

A tough one: Internet connection drops unexpectedly after upgrading to Sonoma 14.7.5
I am using OpenCore 1.0.3 to build a hackintosh on an Intel machine.
The hardware specs are:
- CPU: Intel i7-10700k (Comet Lake)
- Motherboard: Gigabyte Z490 Vision G
- Storage: West Digital SN750
- Graphic Card: AMD 6600XT
- Wireless Card: Fenvi T919 (Chip: Broadcom BCM94360CD)
- Ethernet Card: ASUS XG-C100C V2 10G Ethernet Card (Chip: AQC107)
Two days ago, I upgraded my Hackintosh to Sonoma 14.7.5 from 14.7.4 using OTA. After that, I applied root patches of OpenCore Legacy Patcher to bring my WiFi/BT alive. Unfortunately, the Internet connection becomes unstable since the patching work was done.
The detailed situation is:
- When macOS has just been started up, the Internet is fine. But, after all services loaded up (I guess), the Internet connection is gone (you can't visit any web pages in the browser). Waited for a minute or two, the Internet went back for a while, and became disconnected then.
- Turning on WiFi but not connecting to any hotspots, the Internet will stay connected longer using Ethernet. But, still, the Internet will disconnect sooner or later.
- Once the Internet disconnected, turn on/off WiFi and the browser prompts "Internet connection changed", the Internet will be connected automatically later.
Double checked already:
- Kernel Quirk "DisableIoMapper" is false, "DisableIoMapperMapping" is true and "ForceAquantiaEthernet" is true
- OpenCore Legacy Patcher version is 2.2.0 (tried latest version 2.3.1, but the problem still exists)
- Custom DMAR work is done
- "SecureBootModel" is Disabled
- "csr-active-config" is 03080000
- Latest AMFIPass.kext, IOSkywalkFamily.kext, IO80211FamilyLegacy.kext are placed into EFI/OC/Kexts and enabled in config.plist. The kernel>block is properly configured to allow IOSkywalk downgrade.
I have been searching for the solution for two days and found no one on the Internet. Really appreciate the help if someone knows how.
The complete EFI files are here.

Safari not working on Mac Pro 5,1 (Sonoma 15.4)
Hi,
Safari has been broken on my Mac Pro 5,1 since at least Sonoma 15.2. No matter what site I try to open, I just get the message: “There is a recurring problem with https://…”.
I tried a full reinstall of Sonoma 15.4, but nothing changed. Firefox, Chrome, and other browsers work fine.
The real issue is that some apps no longer work either, especially login pages that won’t load at all. I assume they rely on the same engine as Safari.
Has anyone encountered this issue? Any possible fixes?

Stuck on kernel without recovery , how F'd am I?
-> MacBookPro 8,1 (late 2011, 13-inch), intel chip Sandy Bridge -> Existing native OS: HighSierra 10.13.6 -> broken backlight, I use it with external monitor and use the flashlight trick for BIOS -> OCLP 2.2.0
Hi community, it turned out that I know just enough about operating systems to get myself in trouble, but not enough to get myself out of it. Here's what I did:
Downloaded OCLP to my mac
Downloaded Ventura image and followed instructions to create bootable disk using an external hdd I had around. however on boot menu this did not appear. Retried the process successfully with a 32fb flash drive.
On reboot with boot menu I saw three entries: HighSierra HD EFI (generic orange volume icon) EFI (OCLP icon with small orange volume icon superimposed)
I clicked the first EFI one and this went to white screen with 🚫 symbol.
I rebooted and chose the third option with OCLP icon.
Lots of text acrolled across the acreen and then it went black. The text disappears pretty quickly but I can see that it ends on "End randomseed".
I can no longer boot to HighSierra HD. Because I can't get back in, I can't read detailed kernel or oclp logs.
I can get boot menu, but not recovery partition (either locally or via network).
I erased my HighSierra bootable usb previously and forgot to make a new one, in my excitement to finally get the Ventura USB working 🤦
Next I got on my windows laptop and started trying to create a HighSierra USB to recover my mac. I gave up after kexts as I felt extremely out of my depth. Now I have asked a friend with a modern Mac to download OCLP and prepare a HighSierra USB for me.
So my question is, am I headed in the right direction to repair my mac?
And second, is there an obvious reason why this failed? After reading through the kernel kexts and drivers walk-through, I got the idea that maybe something isn't supported. But doesn't OCLP desktop app take care of all that? do I still need to manually mess with the config files on the EFI?
Thanks in advance!

Updating Ventura to 13.7.5 - I just do it as normal & then run the root patches again?
This will be my first point-release OS update since installing OCLP. Just so I'm clear, I can use the regular macOS update process, and then just need to install the root patches once it's done - is that right?

Painfully slow after every update
Every time I update macOS, the iMac restarts and is so slow that I can only assume the GPU is not working. It takes me about 10 minutes to move the mouse cursor to the password box on the login screen and type it in and then when I finally get to the Desktop it’s still unusable slow (maybe 1 frame per second) and OCLP pops up saying “you’re running without root patches” and it runs the patcher.
Is there no way to get ahead of this before updating? I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong: any time there’s an update, I update OCLP and run everything possible (except root patching as that won’t run with a pending update). OCLP even detects when an update is downloading and asks to do something (can’t remember the exact message but something like “OCLP has detected an update is downloading - would you like to [perform some action]?” which seems to be advisable so I say yes.
Am I doing something wrong?

Soldered memory upgrade to improve performance?
I currently have a (Hackintosh)Mi Notebook 14 running Sonoma 14.7.2. I have configured everything in it like graphics acceleration and all. But at times it still struggles to keep up, like using multiple chrome tabs and all. It has 8gbs of ddr4 ram and 512gbs of ssd. The laptop is nearly 5-6 years old. The battery lasts about 2 hours. Can i upgrade the memory in any way(they say it is soldered). Will replacing the battery give it a performance boost and long battery run time(company claimed 12-14 hours of battery while buying). Or should i just buy a new M1 Macbook Air(8/256) for 650 dollars [M2(16/256) costs around 950 dollars. (I do not live in US)] as I will be pursuing an engineering degree starting from next month. I don’t wanna spend too much if I could get my job done with less.

Having Trouble with Installing Sonoma - Scrambled text and a Cancel Sign

I am currently working to install MacOS 14 on my PC. Mojave is already installed on the NVMe SSD (with Clover as a boot manager) but if I choose no option upon a fresh start up, it's Open Core. This may be an important detail, I'm not sure. I'm utilizing OpenCore to install the new OS however. The plan is to overwrite the current OS with the new one on the NVMe drive. I've provided images of the results I get from choosing the external installer option on OpenCore. Any clues, details or information you could provide would truly be helpful! [link] [comments] |

Downgraded from Sequoia to Ventura Mac OS on Macbook pro 15 mid 2015
![]() | I have owned this MacBook since 2015 for personal use. A few months ago, I upgraded it from Big Sur to Sequoia using OpenCore, but I was disappointed with the performance, especially since the fan was running loudly all the time. So, I decided to downgrade to Ventura. Everything went smoothly until I encountered an Okta authentication prompt, which I have no clue why it appeared. I was expecting the traditional MacBook Pro authentication, where only a password is required. Has anyone else encountered this issue? If so, how do you bypass it? [link] [comments] |

Can't finish OCLP update from version 2.2.0 to 2.3.1
![]() | iMac mid-2011 (12,1) running Sequoia 15.3.1 on OCLP 2.2.0 smoothly, without issues. I'm trying to update OCLP before updating macOS itself to Sequoia 15.4. It goes through the whole process without issues—downloading the update, root patching, rebooting, etc. However, after it finishes and I re-open OCLP, it crashes altogether (see image above). I have to reopen the application and OCLP defaults back to version 2.2.0—asking me to update again to version 2.3.1. I've tried this process a few times, and the update process has crashed at the very last step every single time. Tried both using Wi-Fi and Ethernet cable to download everything, to no avail. Any ideas or suggestions? Is there any workaround or should I wait for another version of OCLP? iMac 17,1 Late 2015 Successful OCLP upgrade to Sequoia 15.4..rocky start but working now!

It showed the dreaded circle+line through it, and then started to do an online recovery without prompting. That didn't take long, it then booted back into the OS, and I tried once more, this time it rebooted properly , I clicked the option+r, got the OS install options I expected to see, and a couple hours later, I'm working on a rather zippy feeling Sequoia 15.4 (mostly due to the 32GB RAM upgrade I just did..but still!) Fink vs. Homebrew vs. MacPorts on OCLP
I just installed Sequoia on an iMac 2017 17". I was going to install Homebrew, but I thought I saw OLCP macs were unsupported? What's the consensus from those going before me?
AI says:
Homebrew: Most popular, widest package selection, fastest installs (usually via bottles), potentially most likely to interact with system changes (pro and con). Generally well-supported on modern macOS.
MacPorts: Strong isolation (/opt/local), comprehensive package selection (though sometimes slightly behind Homebrew), builds from source more often (slower, potential build issues, but tailored to the system), well-supported on modern macOS. A good alternative if Homebrew causes issues.
Fink: Strong isolation (/sw), but significantly smaller package selection, slower updates, and questionable support/testing for the very latest macOS versions that OCLP enables. Historically important, but less relevant today for most users, especially on cutting-edge (even if patched) OS versions.

Is it as simple as clicking the button to update from Ventura, or are there other steps required as it was installed via OCLP.
![]() | Sorry for the incompetence in advance, but I can't seem to find an answer on the OCLP website, and you people are a lot more knowledgeable than I am. I recently (a day ago) installed Ventura 13.7.5 on my 2013 MB Pro, it runs great and has given me the ability to run a ton of stuff I couldn't on Catalina. However; I use an older DMG of garageband (10.7) for music production. Today it wouldn't open, neither would v10.2, so I'm a little stuck. The newest version needs MacOS 14.4 to work, meaning I'd have to update. Which is fine, I'm sure it'll run ok, but I was just wondering if it was as simple as a native update, or if there were other things I had to do. I don't have the option to go back to Catalina to then update all the way to 14 or 15 as I only have a 16GB USB Drive. Sorry again for bothering people, and I appreciate any help or insight. Thanks :) [link] [comments] |

Need to clarify model number, and investigate possible issues updating a mid 2014 15" Retina MBP to Monterey
Hi all.
As the subject suggests, I have a mid2014 15" Retina MBP that I'm thinking about pushing to Monterey, and I wonder if anyone has successfully done this. The reason for this is that updates to software I use are only supporting macOS 12 now. I work in music production, so it's (fairly) important to stay up-to-date with these things. That being said, it's obviously critical that there are no possible issues with CoreAudio or with the Thunderbolt functionality.
Importantly, does installing this update require reinstalling the whole machine, or would it install "over" the current OS?
I notice on the OpenCore github site that it lists the mid-2014 15" Retina MBP as model 11,3. However my model number is 11,2. I have confirmed that my model is indeed mid-2014 by running the serial number. Apple's website lists BOTH these model numbers for the late-2013 and mid-2014 15". Not sure then which OpenCore installer would be best to use.
I appreciate any advice I can get, thanks
