2013 iMac 27" External SSD

Hello all,

I am running Sequoia on my 2013 iMac 27" with 32GB RAM and the OG Fusion Drive. I have read on here that external SSDs using USB 3.0 are faster than upgrading the internal drive to and SSD due to the connection hardware. I have been looking at recommended drives, and the Samsung T7 usually comes up. While I was at Costco over the weekend I saw this Lexar that has pretty solid reviews from tech sites I've read, but I wanted to check with the people who know how these types of things work when used as your main drive. Would this be a good sub for the T7 at half the price?
