I saw that a bunch of other people were struggling with this.
I've been trying for hours, and what has seemed to help was unplugging all other drives, and making sure there's only a single partition.
You might get back into the recovery mode, but with the fixes I listed, I can install FROM the recovery mode. Doesn't make much sense to me, but it's worth a shot!
