Hi everyone,
I'm having an annoying issue with my 9,2 MacBook that I hope someone can help with. I was running macOS Sonoma (15.3.2) using OpenCore with a Root Patcher installed. After an automatic security update, my system now boots to the login screen but then quickly turns black—only the mouse pointer remains visible.
Here’s what I've tried so far:
Booting in Safe Mode CMD shift
Testing all startup disks
Using CMD+R to access Recovery Mode (though it didn’t recognize the disk properly)
Creating and booting from a USB installer (resulted in a folder with a question mark)
PRAM reset with CMD+P+R
Verbose mode (CMD+V) to see boot messages (nothing showed)
I've also run Disk Utility for repairs and confirmed that the disk shows no errors. The issue seems to have started after the update, which was applied by the system rather than through OpenCore. Before the update, everything was working fine.
Any suggestions on how to recover or reconfigure my bootloader settings? Has anyone encountered a similar problem after an update? Any guidance or pointers to further troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!
