I've now pretty thoroughly beaten this thing into submission, so here's an update to my findings.
- Migration Assistant is definitely broken. I don't know if it's specific to my model iMac or just something about OCLP in general, but it's definitely a non-functional piece of macOS on my configuration, at least.
- Virtual Box is broken. This is definitely an OCLP thing and there doesn't seem to be any long-term fix. What's interesting is that I've found people running various versions of Virtual Box under various versions OCLP using various settings. I suspect it's a sort of cat-and-mouse thing where it works then Virtual Box makes a change and it stops working for awhile, then OCLP makes a change and it works again but only with certain versions, etc.
- The "mystery force-quit application" stopped appearing about 12 hours after I made my previous post and hasn't returned.
- There are still graphics glitches but they are nowhere near problematic and don't affect anything of consequence for me. They usually seem to manifest at the bottom of Finder windows.
Now, stuff that I've learned/experienced since my previous post...
- Messages isn't entirely stable and will randomly crash, usually about two seconds after receiving a message from someone. I can relaunch it but it will crash again. Rebooting the computer does resolve the issue for awhile. Not having Messages running all the time also resolves it. If I get the notification, launch Messages, read/reply, then quit Messages, I can do that all day without Messages crashing.
- Printing isn't entirely stable. Occasionally I'll send something to my Brother laser printer and it will just sit in the queue with a "looking for printer" message but never print. Rebooting the computer will immediately send the document to the printer. I just now realized I might be able to work around this by stopping and relaunching CUPS; I'll test that out the next time it happens. The good thing is it doesn't happen a lot. I've had it happen twice in the past five weeks or so which isn't terrible, but it's also something that literally never happened under 10.13 so it's noteworthy.
- It's still weird seeing modern OS functionality on my 15 year old computer. :-)
- After I recreated my music library and playlists I had to resync my devices, which was expected. A nice bonus was the resolution of a persistent issue that I've been having for most of the past four years or so, where album art wasn't properly seen on my devices. If I looked at "Master of Puppets" on my iMac the album art was correct, but if I synced it to my iPhone or listened to it over my Apple TV the album art would be seemingly chosen at random. This is now wholly resolved under Ventura which leads me to believe that it's an old bug in High Sierra that Apple just never got around to fixing.
- I miss the old System Preferences. I don't like having to search for just about every effing setting.
- Siri is still dumb as a rock.
Issues aside, I'd still recommend this as a way to eek some additional longevity from old hardware.
