have a 2012 MacBook Pro and just upgraded it to 16GB of RAM today. Even on Catalina, I already feel a significant improvement in performance. Previously, with 8GB of RAM and an SSD, Catalina handled music production in Logic Pro and Ableton Live 10, as well as 1080p editing in Final Cut, quite well.
A while back, I tried upgrading to macOS Ventura via a patcher, but it didn’t go well. For basic use, it was somewhat functional (though slow at times), but when I tried running multitracks in Ableton Live, the system would lag and freeze, so I went back to Catalina.
Now that I’ve upgraded to 16GB of RAM, do you think my MacBook can handle the minimum requirements for my workflow? Which macOS version would you recommend? I've had the SSD for a year now, and the RAM upgrade is the most recent improvement. (MacBook Pro 2012, 15-inch, i7).
