Hi, first timer here. So everything was going great with my iMac Late 2015 until the OS 12 updates stopped, and I discovered it is now past end of life. I was looking to get a new Mac Mini M4, but I know I can still use this one, but I want to at least upgrade to Ventura, possibly Sonoma. Plus, I'm not exactly in any hurry to spend $600 quite yet. When I got this used almost three years ago, it was on Catalina, but it wouldn't even properly load Software Update, or anything in the recovery options to upgrade. Thinking, "Well, a computer is a computer," I tried upgrading to Monterey using tips I'd found on the Internet, and promptly bricked it. Thankfully I was able to recover it with help from the nearest Apple Store (right at a hundred miles from home), and it's been a wonderful machine. But you can see my nervousness in wanting to patch it to go beyond Monterey. Like, I have a PC that says it can't run Win 11, but it may just be a matter of flashing the BIOS on that. That in my mind is easier than doing this. I guess I'm mainly looking for reassurance that I can do this without bricking it and having to buy a new Mac. Thanks.
