I recently raised my 2016 Macbook Pro 2016 from the dead with OCLP 2.1.2, working my way to Sequoia 15.1.1, and it is working wonderfully!
This computer had not been used since late 2020, so needed a full charge, and surprisingly did not have a working OS install. I started with a recovery mode (OPTN+CMD+R) and downloaded a fresh Monterrey install. I then set up OCLP to set up a Sonoma install. I read that Sequoia wasn't working well (Messages, FaceTime) so I wanted to avoid it. I didn't run into any issues with the Sonoma install, and all was working surprisingly well. While not as responsive as new hardware, pretty much everything worked great.
I got tired of seeing the Sequoia upgrade bubble on the settings app, so after a backup I upgraded. The OCLP launcher started after the first reboot, and initiated root patches. I launched it and re-applied the patches again after second reboot.
This upgrade was 100% worth it. Things are so responsive, that aside from this terrible butterfly keyboard my machine feels brand new. I tested both Messages and FaceTime, and both are working without any issues. iPhone mirroring fails during setup, but otherwise I haven't found and problems.
Happy to test any specific functionality, but must say I wish I had done this sooner.
