I have seen a lot of the talk about 144.0.0.0.0 being ideal, but is that absolutely required in order to install an OS with OCLP, or does OCLP work around your native Boot ROM even if it's older? I can't find any official guidance on this topic.
My relevant specs:
Early 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 flashed to 5,1, running El Capitan 10.11.6
GTX 680 Mac Edition (it was plug and play)
Boot ROM MP51.007F.B03
Do I need to jump through all the hoops of officially installing 10.13, then 10.14 just to acquire Boot ROM 144.0.0.0.0 before proceeding with OCLP? I can do it with a SuperDuper clone of my current boot volume, and then go back to booting from my original drive with El Capitan installed, but I just don't know if it's a mandatory prerequisite or not.
Thank you 🙏
