Sequoia on Macbook Air 2017 - sudden shutdowns 🥲🙏🏻
Model: MacBook Air 2017
Graphics: Intel
Memory: 8 GB
I was running the official Apple Monterey update when my system suddenly became extremely slow. I attempted to resolve the issue by erasing the drive and reinstalling Monterey with “cmd + opt + R,” but that failed.
After several attempts, I finally managed to reinstall it on the third try, but unfortunately, the speed issue persisted.
I then decided to try installing macOS Sequoia using OCLP. The process was straightforward, and it worked well for some time. However, I experienced unexpected shutdowns and faced long boot times.
Thinking that Sequoia might be too demanding for my MacBook, I opted to reinstall Monterey, this time with OCLP. The experience was seamless, and for a while, my machine felt brand new. Sadly, after just a few hours of work, it encountered sudden shutdowns again and returned to being extremely slow.
I’m looking to find a solution. What could be causing these issues, and should I consider downgrading to another OS? I'm feeling quite frustrated with my system and would appreciate any guidance on how to proceed.
Kindly share your views, opinions 🙏🏻

Unsupported Configuration Destected
Hello, I had ruined my original build and have been trying to get back to normal. I built a new usb Mac OS and used this as a recovery drive. I now have 2 issues 1. My keyboard and mouse do not work and I must use external usb ones. 2. I cannot boot without the new USB drive plugged in. When I open open core after logging in with my usb, it tells me 2 different error messages 1. unsupported configuration detected…. Built with wrong build unit 14,2(this is the correct one) 2. Legacy-patcher detected I am booting from usb… install open core to internal hard drive. Both of these take me to the build and install open core log, install to disk and ask me to reboot and I go in this circle Anyone know what I am doing wrong? [link] [comments] |

Do 4chan hackers get caught?
So i heard a lot of stories of how 4chan hackers attacked government websites, but do they get caught for that? For example i watched a video about Aaron Swartz, who wanted to create a free source of info by stealing MIT journals. So the main question, do they got caught for crimes like hacking a government websites?

Quick Question for these two parts wifi card
Hi there, I wanted to inquire if these two components will function seamlessly, irrespective of the WiFi card having four antenna prong connectors and the WiFi PCIe card having only three antenna prongs. My friend who’s assisting me in finalizing my Hackintosh EFI configuration mentioned that it should work, but I wanted to double-check and ensure my understanding. I appreciate your assistance in this matter. Thanks a lot! [link] [comments] |
Dual monitor no Ventura OS
Boa!

Running Ventura on an Early 2015 MacBook Pro 13" with faulty RAM (a success)
Merry Christmas everyone :) Just wanted to share a quick story of how I ended up "saving" my faulty 2015 MBP 13" with OCLP.
I was on Big Sur and I wanted to update to Monterey, but I would keep getting "An Error Occurred Loading the Update" at around 14 minutes (like this). I tried everything including the Monterey Installer from the App Store, Internet Recovery (cmd+option+R), resetting NVRAM and SMC, bootable USB installer, and safe mode, but nothing worked. It turns out I had a faulty memory module (PPM001) according to Apple diagnostics.
The solution was to place the SSD into the another 2015 MBP and install Ventura (or later) normally using OCLP and then transfer it back to the main MBP after it finished installing everything. I know I could technically install Sequoia but I just randomly chose Ventura and stuck with it. It is currently running buttery smooth so far! Here are some pics (Dropover link). It might crash soon due to the RAM, but hey, I get to use the latest OS's 🙏🏻
P.S. does anyone know what faulty RAM has to do with the installer halting at "14 minutes remaining"? I was able to install and run Big Sur without any problems before this. What exactly about the transition from Big Sur to Monterey causes the issue?

Late 2013 MBP sequoia - Looking for Tips and Guidance.
Hey!
So I decided to jump from big sur to sequoia. The main reason is that I have an ipad mini and I want to be able to see my handwritten notes and also the latest note features. My notes say unsupported.
I made the upgrade I ran into a bunch of hiccups where the kernel_Task and MTL would use like 80% of CPU. I would reboot and patch a few times and things now work smoother. I also opened up the PC and put some new thermal paste and cleaned out my fans. I am not sure how well it has helped the PC but both were in rough condition.
My concerns/ Issues:
- Is there is anyway to make the computer snappier? ( Or is the the cost of the OS)
- Is there anyway I can speed up start up?
- Any settings or things I can change to really
- Anyway around being able to see hand drawn notes on lower OS?
THANK YOU!

Mounting EFI issue
Hello people, I've recently got MacOS installed on my Lenovo V520S Specs: i5-7400 8GB DDR4 RAM Intel HD630 (no dGPU) As I had a Samsung NVME and installation kept failing, I installed it on a USB Hard Drive just to test it before purchasing a Sata SSD. After installation, I've removed the Samsung NVME As I got a HD630, I'm facing the 7MB VRAM issue and I need to mount the EFI to patch video. But opencore configurator doesn't find my EFI, only my Windows EFI if my Samsung NVME is installed. MountEFI doesn't work either (there is no efi partition). I can't even copy it to the drive so that i don't need the USB to boot What stupid mistake have I done? Thanks in advance Sorry for the bad quality, [link] [comments] |
Dortania OpenCore Compatibility with Newer macOS Versions
With macOS no longer supporting AMD 7000 series GPUs since Apple stopped using them, and the complete transition from Intel to M-series CPUs, does this mean that newer versions of macOS can no longer be installed on non-Apple hardware using Dortania OpenCore?

anyone hack a ryzen 8700g?
Very interested in hearing and looking to make an x600 desk mini system to go head-to-head with the m4 Mac mini and see how it goes. I'm trying to use the integrated GPU.
I like the upgradeability. and I can always turn it back to a Windows machine if I don't end up enjoying it

Order of operations for upgrade? Two internal drives, one running BigSur
Hello,
I have been running BigSur successfully for a long time, but I would like to attempt to update my OS to something newer.
I purchased an M.2 drive and have it installed. What I would like to do is once again attempt to upgrade using OpenCore.
My current OS is running (the install method that shall not be named) as it was the only way at the time I could get my OS up and running quickly after losing a week to failed OpenCore install.
However, I don't have time to dedicate days to this project alone, plus I have to keep my current OS running for work.
What would be the order of operations to allow me to work on upgrading when I have time, but avoid any downtime with my current OS, or risks of it not booting.
I also dual-boot to Windows.
Thank you!

need help regarding haswell igpu patching
my specs i5-4590 32gb ram 1tb ssd 500hdd igpu intel hd 4600 using the vga port rn, can switch to dvi dual link via a display port to dvi cable (my system has display port and my monitor has dvi)
so i installed ventura a few days ago and i got stuck with 4mb vram, upon patching with oclp the hackintosh did not boot and i had to revert the changes to when it was not patched. upon asking here someone said thay its not natively supported so i ended up erasing everything and started fresh with catalina.
i made the efi again by following dortania and some reddit posts and added these to my display properties settings
AAPL,ig-platform-idat 0300220D device-id at 12040000 disable-external -gpu at 01000000 disable-hdmi-patches at 01000000 <-- maybe don't use this if you're using HDMI? framebuf fer-patch-enable at 01000000 framebuffer-fbmem at 00000003 framebuffer-stolenmem at 00000004 framebuffer-uni fiedmem at 00000080
but now even in catalina i got booted with a 4mb vram and after changing the setting to the above mentioned, im getting stuck at a verbose screen with last line IOConsoleUsers: gIOScreenLockState 3

Bluetooth doesn't work on MacBook Air 2014
For some reason even though my Bluetooth adapter works fine on the last supposed OS which is big sur, it's not working on Sonoma and then sequoia, if there's a fix or work around this would be very helpful

How does Sequoia 15.2 run on your unsupported Macs?
I did a clean install of Sequoia 15.2 on a 2014 Mac mini with 2.8 GHz Intel i5 CPU with Iris 5100 GPU, 8GB RAM, and 256GB NVME SSD. Everyone is saying that Sequoia performs better than Sonoma, but in my experience, the performance is noticeablely worse than on Sonoma 14.7. Boot times take 50 seconds on Sequoia compared to 30 seconds on Sonoma, and apps in Sequoia just take longer to open and feels less responsive. Does anyone else also feel Sequoia is slower?

Can’t login after 15.1 update
I updated OCLP and then updated to the latest 15.1 update. Everything seemed to go smoothly, but now when I reboot the login screen appears for one second and the goes blank. I can’t get logged in as what I do get typed in of my password gets cleared out when it goes to the black screen.
Any ideas?

Opencore "F.A.Q."
im kinda expecting this to get deleted, but oh well.
Performance: Ive personally had better performance on Monterey than: mountain lion, Sierra and Catalina. This is more than likely gonna be the case for every version, since they are simply more optimized Keep in mind I have a mid-2012 15" MacBook Pro.
"It runs terribly, what do I do!?!!?", try running post-install, it will fetch stuff like drivers, which can be crucial for remotely good performance.
"what if something goes wrong??" on startup, hold command and/or option + r to enter recovery, from here, you can reinstall the version of macOS that came with your system.
"how do I do this without usb??" set the smbios to advanced, then select any spoof model, then, fully install open-core and ignore the reboot. Now, download the installer. make a 16-gb partition of any disk and name it "MyVolume" with the format "OS X Extended (Journaled)", next, open terminal and paste the following:
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ OS.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume
now, replace "OS" in "OS.app" with the version of macOS your installing (e.g. Monterey), and if it has a space, do it like Big\ Sur, now, press enter. Restart your machine, then hold down option/alt, now, enter the EFI boot that has the open core logo. Then, click on "Install macOS ___" now, its pretty straight forward, in fact so straight forward you can do it without any help. Once your in the os, open open core, then click "post-install root patch".
If you have any other questions, leave them in the replies, I will help.
