Hi friends, I have a problem, I updated the opencore legacy patch to the latest version and now my 2011 Macbook pro does not go past this part, what could it be? [link] [comments] |

Can't update permissions despite having full Admin privileges
Hello all,
First off, I'd like to express my appreciation for the OCLP project. I love keeping old viable hardware up and running for as long as I can and appreciate that this project keeps hardware out of the landfill.
I'm using a Mac Pro 5,1 (Early 2009) Processor 2x 3.33 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon running macos12 and I have noticed an annoying problem recently where I cannot update permissions on files or little things like my default browser. I have full admin privileges on my machine.
Here's an example, .mkv files will default to Blu-Ray Player Pro which I have installed but I want them to default open with VLC. My usual trick of doing 'Get Info' on a file, changing the 'open with' application, and then hitting 'change all' does nothing, it just reverts back to its original state. I get the message that it will change the permissions of all files but then it just reverts back to the Blu-Ray Player.
Essentially the same thing happens with selecting my default browser. It gets stuck on Brave but when I try to change it to Safari or Chrome it just reverts back to Brave.
I believe these behaviors are related. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this and/or suggestions for how to fix?

iMac 15,1 weird sleep issue
Hi! Sometimes, after my Mac was in sleep for multiple hours, this happens out of nowhere and I don’t know why. No keyboard and mouse input possible, but after pressing the power button it goes back to normal. This has been happening with Ventura as well as with sequoia. Wiped the drives multiple times. Any idea on what may cause this? Thanks :) [link] [comments] |

How to get Bluetooth 5 dongle to work on iMac 21,5 mid 2011 MacOS Sequoia
Recently I bought a new Bluetooth keyboard to use with my iMac the Logitech Pebble Keys 2 K380S. The problem is the iMac doesn’t see it likely because the Bluetooth version it supports is too old, so I bought a Bluetooth 5.0 dongle. How do I get it to use the dongle instead of the integrated Bluetooth ?

my trackpad doesn't work , please help
I hackintoshed my laptop in August and everything worked fine except the wifi and trackpad , I have a Realtek card so I just used my iPhone through a usb , I am also using a mouse , (my laptop has only 2 usb ports) which limits functionality , I also really want to use gestures , I had installed macOS on my partitioned SSD , without replacing windows (I thought that was the problem) so I deleted that partition , I tried voodoo I2C with Hid , and Elan , I tried the I2C polling boot arg , I tried using a clover efi , redid my efi , i tried using the Xosi patch too , i tried following the official voodoo documentation page but it is really difficult to understand (im 13 ) this laptop was a hand down so maybe it has something to do with the trackpad itself? it worked fine on windows even after installing macOS , i really dont know what to do next , i have uploaded my efi (its basically useless if anyone would use it ) could someone please check for errors ? thank you in advance

Performance Hit?
I have a 2009 Core Two Duo MacBook Pro and it is currently running OCLP on Monterrey, I have upgraded it to an SSD and 8GB of ram, I was wondering how big the performance hit would be if I were to upgrade to Sequoia. Thanks!

Help with Finding Hard Drive!
Hi, after successfully upgrading my 2013 iMac to Sequoia with OCLP, I began the same process to upgrade a very well conditioned 11" MacBook Air (The tiny Mac) that I picked up specifcially yesterday to use just for writing in Word. I read on here that I would need to update to OS El Capitan from Lion. Which I did successfully! I then began the OCLP process, but to no avail. 8 hours stuck on loading Apple logo screen. So, I thought might at least go back to OS El Capitan. The OS El Capitan Boot Drive was recognised, but only gave the option to install the OS on itself. I then realised the actual HD on the Macbook was nowhere to be seen. I thought best go all the way back to Lion. But, as you can see, there's nowhere to install it. Any help would be much appreciated. I feel like I should have just stopped at OS El Capitan since it was working great. Sequoia seems to have scrambled something and can't find my way back. Here's hoping. Cheers. [link] [comments] |
2017 MBP - can’t log in
hi!! if anyone sees this pls give some sort of input because i have no idea what to do: i have seemingly completed the update from ventura to sequoia (2017 macbook pro, 13inch w/ touchbar) but when i get to the login screen and put in my password, it says loading for at least thirty minutes. i have tried restarting a good few times now and that has done nothing — what do i do? did i mess something up? every time i power on it pulls back up the screen where its like “ install macos / open disk / install sequoia “ and pressing open disk takes me to the lock screen but wont sign in. help?

Question on how to update OpenCore
hey everyone! I currently run macOS Sequoia via OCLP on my 2017 iMac and it runs extremely well, since I will likely continue to use OCLP in the long run I wanted to know how I can update OCLP since I see versions get released here and there
at first I thought it was simply downloading the newest version of OCLP and re-doing the patches & EFI
[link] [comments]
Was running fine until....
Updated my 2014 mbp to Ventura no problems... from I can no longer go past el capitan. It was working great for a couple months. Now for whatever reason when I boot it, the thing gets stuck at 1/4 of 100% at the apple loading screen. Is there any way to get around this? I haven't installed or ran any wild scripts, just use it for my aux laptop. Not sure why it all of a sudden started doing this.

MacOS Sonoma/BT Issues
Hello all,
I installed an upgraded BT/WiFi card (BCM943602CDP) with the appropriate adapter. The WiFi works perfectly however whenever I try and connect any device to my 5,1 MacPro it acts like it wants to connect but it doesn't even when I try to reapply OCLP patches (version 2.2.0). I have noticed in the system report under the bluetooth controller it shows as discoverable: off (I'm not sure how to change that).
I even tried downgrading to Ventura which I've read that BT works however I ran across the same issue.
MacOS version: Sonoma 14.7.2 | OCLP 2.2.0 | BT/WiFi card BCM943602CDP

Upgrade MBP 2016 directly to Sonoma without affecting T1 functionality
I’m seeking clarification to avoid making any mistakes. I want to upgrade my MacBook Pro 15" 2016 to macOS Sonoma. The native macOS is Monterey.
I’ve read online that many recommend upgrading to Ventura first and then to Sonoma to preserve the T1 firmware. However, I found this issue on the official OpenCore Legacy Patcher GitHub repo (https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/issues/1103), where they announced a fix for the T1 chip issue in OpenCore v1.1.0. Additionally, there is a recent release for Sequoia too (https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/releases/tag/2.2.0).
Does this mean I can directly upgrade to Sonoma/Sequoia without needing to go through Ventura, and still maintain T1 chip capabilities?
Thanks in advance for any advice or insights! Happy holidays

Please help, tried upgrading from Big Sur to Ventura on 2014 iMac 27" but after install it went straight into Target Mode ...
Hi, hoping someone can please help, I followed a Mr Macintosh video meticulously to upgrade from Big Sur to Ventura on my 2014 27" iMac Retina but after running the installer instead of going to a log-in screen it went straight into Target Mode. I dont have another Mac and couldnt exit this so powered off and then couldnt re-boot. I can access Disk Utility, Terminal etc from Internet Recovery but my Fusion drive and Macintosh HD drive container/volume have all disappeared so I cant re-run the installer, reinstall an OS or restore from Time Machine as there is no drive available. I can see the physical Apple SSD with disc0s2 underneath and Apple HDD with disk1s2 below in Disk Utility. Neither disc1 or 2 can be mounted, I get disenter error 119930868 for both. I've run First Aid and Diagnostics on all visible drives with no errors reported and I've never had any problems with the Fusion Drive, has always run like a dream.
I'm not sure how to proceed now...? Is there anything I can try without erasing the drives and if so which one should I erase to try to reinstall Big Sur from Internet Recovery...? Do I need to recreate the Fusion Drive and if so how...? Really dont know what to do now so any advice would be really appreciated, thank you!

Battery settings
I have been running Ventura on my 15 MBP mid 2015 (11,5) for about a month now. Everything's been great, but I noticed I don't see any battery related options in battery settings. It doesn't bother me that much but it would br nice to enter "low power mode" or enable "optimized charging" etc. Im not sure if this is because OCLP or because it has a new battery. I bought this machine in early December. If nothing helps I'll go back to Monterey and check if it is Hardware or software based. Thx.

Can I just update through the regular update mechanism?
I have a 2017 MacBook Pro running on Sonoma with OCLP.
Can I just continue to update and upgrade to newer versions of MacOS through the regular updates or do I need to do something with/through OCLP?
Any guidance would be appreciated!

Desktop Raptor lake EFI?
I have been trying repeatedly to install MacOS to my Main Desktop with no luck.
I have tried with a custom EFI and with numerous premade EFIs with all of them showing a no GUI (text) boot chooser in the top right corner of the screen and clicking the dmg option just pauses for a bit, then returns to allow you to choose an option and the only option that boots is Windows.
Machine specs:
CPU: i5 13400
Mobo: MSI B660 (I think, will confirm)
GPU: GTX 1650 (I know its not native so have tried to boot without)
RAM: 16GB DDR4
Should I provide EFI?
Thanks

Stuck at "Less than a minute remaining" during Monterey installation (MBP 8,1)
My Macbook Pro 8,1 (Late 2011, 13-inch) seems to stuck at "Less than a minute remaining" during the installation of MacOS Monterey via OCLP onto Macintosh HD. The Macintosh HD is a 500GB Seagate Momentus Thin SHDD which was salvaged from my old Acer Aspire laptop. It originally had Windows Vista but I wiped the drive clean so that I can install Monterey on it. The original Macintosh HD was a Hitachi 260GB HDD which failed 3 days ago. It originally had High Sierra installed. Performance of the Mac using the original HD was very laggy with kernel panics here and there before it finally failed. I am not the original owner of the Mac as my friend gave me this Mac after he found it during spring cleaning, so the original HD was about to fail anyway. The polarizer of the Mac's LCD was already damaged before I got it but apart from random glitches it does not affect the performance of the Mac. Anyways do I need to restart the Mac or let it finish installing until the setup assistant appears? [link] [comments] |

Mac Mini Late 2012 (Macmini 6,2) running MacOS Ventura - December 2024
Just wanted to share my experience installing and using Ventura 13.7.2 from Mojave. Everything is going very well, I used this amazing tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-huRykhjs6g by Mr Macintosh, followed it step by step and had a successful install. My specs are the listed ones in the picture plus an ADATA SSD Model SU800. Im currently using ProTools and it runs perfectly, with iZotope RX9, Krotos Studio and AutoAlign Post 2 running without any problems at all. Hope this helps if anyone with this setup is wondering if it will work, specially using process intensive software. [link] [comments] |
Ever since first installing sequoia, my 2011 iMac won’t wake from sleep.
Anyone else experience similar, or know of any fixes for this? I have a Plex server running on my computer, and often times I’ll have to force restart my iMac when I want to watch a show.
Thanks in advance!

Help with macOS Sequoia Installation on MacBook Air 2017
Hi everyone,
I need some help with my macOS Sequoia installation on my MacBook Air 2017. I used OpenCore Legacy Patcher and installed Sequoia directly onto the drive (without a USB) by partitioning it, just like in a tutorial video. Everything went smoothly until I reached the login screen, where it just keeps loading and doesn’t go any further. I’ve tried using Safe Boot, but it still gets stuck.
I didn’t do a clean install — I chose the upgrade option instead of erasing everything. Now I’m not sure what to do next.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue or have any advice on how to get past the login screen? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OC and Sonoma update from 10.15 - cross check my thinking
Hey- Looking for peace of mind in a OC/OSX update, I’ve put it off and the time has come to leap forward
- Current build- OSX 10.15.7
- Z490 Vision D
- i10700k Comet Lake
- AMD 5700XT 8GB
-
OSX on a Samsung 980SSD boot drive,
- 2x 3.5HDD Internal backup drives for Mac
- 1x- Windows 10 bootcamp drive for gaming.
- Does this even need to be boot camped? Or just boot separately - I am confused here about the Bootstrap process, and if I can just dual boot avoiding the camp part all together.
-
I want to update to latest OC and Sonoma
-
Sequoia seems possible with my hardware- But how stable is this…?
-
My thinking is I need to -
-
Create OC / Kext USB
- Move new OC to EFI
- Update required Kext
- Run Sonoma Installer from USB
- Do I need to do anything for my existing Window10 bootcamp and storage drives?
- ? Pray for successful start up?
My main concerns are running the new installer and bricking the system in-between OSXs. If I keep a EFI back up of my current build, is restoration as simple as putting the old working EFI back in place and reinstalling 10.15? My HDDs should remain unaffected, right? In previous hack builds I’ve always just installed a fresh drive with the latest OSX, this would be first time major updating instead.
I’ve read through the Dortania guide a few times about updating OC/OSX, but am curious to anyone’s experiences/success, Thank you for any input.

Have anyone successfully hackintoshed the asus zephyrus g14 ga402 2023?
My specs:
Ryzen 7 7735 HS,
i don't need the 4050 work,
mediaktek wifi card (i can replace it),
From what i know, my specs is not supported as the iGPU is not in vega family (supported by Nootedred). At first, i try to hackintosh because of curiosity. But now, after searching entire internet, im slowly but painfully dying, realize that i can not do anything to make it work in my computer. So is there anyone with the same cpu, sucessfully hackintosh. Please give me what kext you use and your config.plist or some advice.
Thanks in advance
Sorry for my bad English

Recovery Reboot Loop
So I am having a strange issue. Trying to install Sequoia on a 2015 Macbook 8,1. I have done several OCLP installs on previous machines so I thought this would be easy. The situation is I boot into EFI and install Sequoia. It finishes and reboots right back to recovery. I can do the installation a dozen times and it will take me back to recovery. When I restart and go to EFI all I see is MacInstaller and Install Sequoia. If I select MacInstaller, it takes me right back again to recovery. I have no idea what's going on.

Wallpaper only appears after 10 seconds or so
But sometimes it’s right away. And the wifi icon stays greyed out until I click on it.
I had this problem on Sonoma too, but ultimately it just went away.it really does not seem metal related, especially since I had the same issue on Sonoma and it went away.
But what do I know. I feel this should be quite easy to fix but I just can’t reproduce the steps to get it to load right away.
This is on a MacBook Pro 8,1. Anyone has one of these with sequoia on and where it works fine?

MacOS Suggestion
Hello!
I just picked up a MBP A1502 with a Core i7, 8GB of RAM (I plan to get more down the road) last week as I had two laptops crash in one week (lol, my luck 😅).
I currently upgraded it to Big Sur but was curious what the recommended MacOS I should upgrade to. I’d like to at least be able to run 10.5 so that I can get certain programs to work properly but I’m curious too on how well it would run Sequoia.
Any suggestions?
