Upgrade Order

So, I’m running Sonoma on a mid 2012 MacBook Pro. Id like to try Sequoia but I’m getting confused about something.

Before up grading do I install all the required patches in OCLP BEFORE commencing the upgrade in Mac settings, or do I start the upgrade and let OCLP identify the new OS and patch after?
