I'm a long time Brave Browser user and it appears to be absolutely chewing up CPU on my fully patched Mini running MacOS 15.1. This is a robust build for it's age, 2.6ghz i7, 16GB/Ram. One or two tabs open and a streaming video will ramp up my User% to 10-15% (not sustained usually for longer than 15-30 seconds) and if I use my typical browser load of too many tabs (20 or so) Brave will easily be the culprit that spins my fans full speed and teeters my CPU temps into 95-101C.
This machine has a fresh CPU paste job too with normal idle temps and I am no spring chicken to that process so I am very confident that this is not the issue.
Could this be browser related in the sense that Brave isn't jiving with this set up, or is this a potentially something else? Sometimes I see Metal related processes spike but they tend to not be there persistently. I typically see Brave Browser, Brave Browser Helper (Renderer and the GPU processes) as well as Kernel_Task, sysmond, WindowServer chewing processor up.
Thanks in advance for ideas. These first world problems are awesome! 😉
