Context: initial install on a mid 2015 MBP 11,5 from Mojave (2018) to Sequoia 15.1 actually WORKS.
So shout out to u/Toedels from this forum. The OCLP walkthrough was super simple (except I needed to format my USB flash drive/ stick as MSDOS in macOS Mojave (2018) in order to get the OpenCore-Patcher.app to be able to find it during the bootdrive creation process (Mac OS Extended (Journaled) wasn't getting picked-up).
The OCLP walkthrough-install worked fine via the USB stick. But once I tried to boot it up from the internal EFI, I got stuck on the black load screen with the logo and loading bar. And again, that Toedels tidbit worked like a charm (and for context, I have extremely minimal experience using Terminal/ kexts, and I just straight-up deleted some seemingly extremely important EFI files in a Finder-esque-UI via Clover Configurator 5.28.00).
I'm hoping to use this as a backup backup backup After Effects machine, but mostly web browsing with the latest security (which was my main motivator for trying to get Monterey on the machine to get the latest & greatest Safari & Chrome updates, which alas, wasn't working (and forced my hand to either pony up some hard earned cash, or find an alt (and much appreciation to the OCLP community)).
Gonna put on that retro bg or that abstract atmospheric Sequoia bg and just bask in workaround-glory. A worthwhile expenditure of precious energy (but only after the fact, lol).
