Wanted to give an update on my mbp 7,1 (2010) with 16gb ram and an ssd.
updated to 2.1.0 and tried the sequoia .1 update. I had to get up (it was taking an hour) and I came back but it seemed to have not installed. Tried it again, another hour, and then it did install after I came back. No keyboard or mouse working. After using a hub (as always) I got in and it was crawling. the wifi was down so it could not download the patches and using ethernet did not immediately work for 2.1.0 to get the patches. everything was crawwwwllling. So 15min to quite the app. Verify with safari it was online. tried again. applied root patches and rebooted.
Post reboot I logged in and instantly it felt better. I waited not holding my breath. Well damn if the thing isnt leaping around like a new buck. This thing is snappy! like at least as good as Monterey snappy. The dock magnified as quickly as my m2. messages opened well, so did safari, chrome and even stocks. I opened the photos app as I noticed a patch for it and it welcomed me. Instead of dead pics I had removed it said it was empty and ready. I haven't had a chance to try it but this is a basic second computer for me.
So, so far it seems to be running very well especially compared to previous sequoia and OCL versions. NICE. IT filled me with a bit of join on a Friday night like an old friend was back.
I do not believe screen share into the 2010 mbp is working though. I will give that a try. 1st attempt did not even open a window. usually I get a black window but I can use the screen share app to remote INTO my m2 from the 2010.
Just wanted to give anyone waiting an update. I know it is an old mbp but I still use it as a backup and when I am at my desk and do not want to carry my m2 across the house. cheers
