I've been running Big Sur alongside Windows on the same disk, different partitions for about a year now, self-made EFI and all. Its been working fine, booting properly and stuff till now.
So I ran into the "MediaKit reports not enough space on device for requested operation" error when trying to format a partition with MacOS Extended (Journaled), in MacOS recovery disk utility. I wanted to install a different version of MacOS on this partition, hence the need for formatting.
I saw a post on this subreddit saying that the cause is that my EFI partition for the C drive is too small, and that I need to resize it. I did so by creating a 600 MB one and deleting the old 100 MB EFI partition.
This is where all the fuckery started, since after doing this I'm unable to boot my OpenCore EFI, which has been working fine for over a year. Whenever I try to boot it, it boots Windows right away, WITHOUT EVEN SHOWING THE DAMN OS PICKER MENU.
I've tried editing boot entries with BOOTICE and Hasleo EasyUEFI, by creating a new entry pointing to the Opencore.efi in my EFI folder, then moving it above Windows Boot Manager. This does not do shit, issue persists, and when I boot back into Windows and check the boot entries, windows boot manager is back at the top of the list.
So basically, I'm unable to change the order of the BIOS boot entries, Windows Boot Manager is always on the top.
Please tell me what I can do, really pulling my hair over this one.
