I'm just curious and by no means concerned about this SMU firmware loading thing as none of our workload requires GPU power greater than what Intel iGPU has to offer.
I read somewhere that AMD Vega/Navi cards has a thing called SMU firmware and GPU memory bandwith takes a large hit without it. But macOS is not willing to loading the firmware onto the GPU so there has (had?) been various workaround but all seems to be inactive by now.
Can someone share more detail about current situation related to SMU firmware?
