How do I set the bootpicker to boot from the last used drive?

I have a 2010 Mac Pro with multiple drives and everything was working perfectly until I foolishly chose a startup disk in MacOS. Now it always defaults to it. I found I liked the last boot option better. I don’t think I can unselect a boot drive from MacOS settings.

Can I somehow reenable it?
