Downloading Sonoma after reboot just stoping and rebooting

Whilst actually downloading Sonoma on my 2017 Macbook Pro (A1708), after starting the download after the reboot it just turns black, reboots and I am back at the selection menu where I can clear the disk and install Sonoma
