Anyway to avoid OS Update freezing without restoring snapshot

I have a 2017 MacBook Air that requires the boot into safe mode + restore last snapshot when I try to update the OS or install from a bootable USB. It's not impossible but it just a tad invonviecnet.

Is there a proper way to run the OS update process without that step?

-Remove root patches before botting from the USB with the OS update?
