I tried various times before and couldn't do it bc I didn't know the kit OpenCore downloads has to match the OS build. In my case I didn't know for it to patch the kernel it has to say
System Software Overview:
System Version: macOS 14.6.1 (23G93)
on the System Report. So I updated to it from 14.5 and it worked. I also enabled the Intel Graphics using the reverse platform id method so it matched, and I followed this guide from elitemacx86 to get it to not turn off the monitor during login. Anyways if anybody has any questions let me know.
