Quirk when installing Sequoia (works great but disk volumes are renamed)

I upgraded my late 2012 iMac (13,1) to Sequoia (from Sonama w/OLCP), letting it run overnight on the first attempt and woke up to an error message and unable to boot from the hard drive. I repeated the process with the same USB installer and everything came up working. But, as I recall my only choice to install was on 'Macintosh HD - Data', and later I noticed that the other volume had become 'Machintosh HD - Data - Data'. This doesn't seem to bother anything in normal operation but I think Time Machine has now used the space for a completely new copy of everything like it is a completely different disk.

Does anyone know why this might happen and if it is worth the trouble to try to change it now? Everything seems to be working great, although as expected the new feature of iphone mirroring won't complete the connection.
