Experience with MacBook 2017 - 4 Ports/Touchbar?

I'm on the latest OS apple allows on my laptop (Ventura) and I tried Sonoma months ago and it was way too slow to use.

Have any updates to the patcher addressed that or is this typical for Sonoma on this machine?
