Does the HDMI Passthrough feature in Sequoia work for anyone?

Hi, I have recently updated to Sequoia and it mostly went fine (except the known wifi issues). I was really looking forward to the new HDMI Passthrough feature which would mean passing Atmos TrueHD streams to my AVR. Unfortunately I can't make it work. I use a Denon AVR-X3600H receiver, which works perfectly with Windows HDMI Passthrough (so my cables should be ok), but I can't get MacOS to pass on Dolby Atmos audio. I have enabled passthrough in both Apple Music and Apple TV, and Atmos playback has been working perfectly if I was using a 12 output audio interface. If I start playing something in Apple TV, the DENON-AVR audio device switches to "Encoded Digital Audio" format in Audio Midi Setup - which means it IS using the passthrough feature, but it is not using it for Atmos unfortunately. It only streams formats that require a maximum of 8 channels, no Atmos option.
If I play back something in Apple Music (that is definitely Atmos, as I have tested it with my 12 channel audio interface), then it does not even switch to "Encoded Digital Audio" format, and just uses the default 8 channels that my HDMI connection is capable of without metadata.
- Has anyone seen this feature working on an Intel Mac or a Hackintosh at all? Could it be that Intel Macs are not supported (but then why can you enable the feature, it would not make sense)?
- If it is working for you then what HDMI device (AVR, TV or soundbar) are you using?
