2010 mbp on Monterey how Do I upgrade?

I have a 2010 MacBook Pro running Monterey in order to upgrade to sequoia. Can I just use a software updater from Apple or do I have to reinstall everything with core patcher from scratch? I understand there’s some issues with the keyboard and trackpad and I may need to use an external during the process
