Upgrading from Monterey to Sonoma the traditional way

Today I wiped an iMac 27 (late 2013) and used official apple internet recovery to install high sierra, which worked perfectly.

Then I used Opencore to install MONTEREY - which also worked perfectly.

Now I'm in Monterey 12.7.6 and the App store official update tool is offering me to upgrade to SONOMA

Is that safe to do? or am I better off using OpenCore AGAIN to update to SONOMA?
