I have just been through nine months of multiple problems since installing Sonoma on my 2019 27" iMac, which I learned has a Fusion Drive. My Mac was perfect for five years prior. problems started immediately after the Sonoma install with the Mac shutting itself down. Trying to fix that was a nightmare (eventually disk wiped, multiple OS reinstall failures, etc.) that eventually involved "merging" the Fusion Drive. After finally succeeding to reinstall Sonoma and a Time Machine restore I discovered I was having corruption problems both in iMovie and with the media source files in Photos. Weeks of disk wipes, reinstalls, hardware checks (all of which the Apple Geniuses say were fine) and re-merging the Fusion Drive failed to identify or fix the problems. I have finally gone back to Ventura, which so far seems to solid. Now I am trying to figure out how to avoid losing years of over 100,000 emails in Mail that were in carefully organized folders that cannot simply be copied over and can't be restored from the Time Machine backups created while using Sonoma.
Far over 100 hours of huge frustration since this started.
Has anyone else had similar problems with Sonoma, particularly with a Fusion Drive?
Suggestions for recovering the Mail folders?
