MBP 2013 13" Sonoma update: It got slower and laggy after 2 weeks

As title, my MBP 2013 13" (bought recently) was updated to Sonoma 14.6. The first 2 weeks the experience is smooth and okay for an old Mac, quiet fan and CPU stable around 50* C.

However early this week It suddenly get much lagger and slower after I connected it to uni's library external monitor, and the situation is still bad after I disconnected and use in normal condition. Some strange behavior I noticed:

  • Typing and scrolling feel laggy and slow in Chrome (I mainly work in Chrome), change to Edge and Safari doesn't help, finally switched to Firefox and it help a bit but still feel laggy.
  • Minimize app from maximize or full-screen was incredible laggy and freeze MBP, sometime crash the machine and force me to log-in again. I also notice "windowserver" process jump up to 100% CPU usage when ever I do this. Switch tab using cmd+tab didn't occur in freezing and smoother, but still slowly load other app.
  • the MBP is much hotter and fan ran noiser (I used Macs fan control). Sleep or closing lid seem like not stopping CPU, because after 30minute putting MBP in backpack (sleep mode) it feels super hot, open it again fan jump up to maximum and CPU showed 80 Celsius.

I searched on Mac subreddit and saw other people also got the same experience accross different model and OS version, but no concrete solution. Have anyone faced this issue before, can you share your experience? I'm not sure if this problem is from patched Sonoma, old MBP chip, or macOS itself.
