The body is in bad condition. Several dents and many scratches. Clear bad drop on its left side. Left speaker doesn't work.
It's a 2.5ghz with a 500gb HDD and 4GB of ram. Matte screen. It turns on. Works. MacBook pro 8,2.
I have an early 2011 13 inch MacBook pro. With an SSD 16gb ram and HDD in the superdrive space. Running Monterey w/oclp.
I'm considering putting my drives and Ram in the 15inch and cleaning it up. Updating to Ventura ( Monterey is losing support in November). I wouldn't mind a matte screen and better performance.
Is this a good idea ? I've heard the dGPU is bad but idk how to tell if it's been disabled, failed or not. I see it in "about this mac". It's on High Sierra
Idk if the performance is worth the work of cleaning up and transfering data. And idk what would happen if the dGPU fails, does the laptop just stop working ? What if I'm doing important work ?
Please advise. Thanks all !🙌🏼
