2009 MBP, anyone managed to past the USB 1.1 issues in Ventura / Sonoma & if so how? (aka no keyboard / trackpad)

Hi all,

I've a 2009 MBP running Monterey which has served me well over the years and still used daily. Made the mistake of letting Updates apply Sonoma, and of course the keyboard and trackpad stopped working.

A per the 'issues' section on GitHub I tried a few different hubs & mice, recovery, safe mode, no joy. It would be a shame to retire this unit as it still drives so I'm interested to know if anyone with a similar age machine can advise if they've been successful in getting past the lack of USB1.1 support.? What hubs / mice etc.? Which ports?
