frustrated with oclp

I have had so many issues since downloading and using oclp from the "stuck on login screen issue" to several others. I now have an issue where I get to my login screen and it let's me type a bit of my password before going black freezing and then going black and then back to the login screen. It's a vicious loop. I've spent more hours trying to troubleshoot opencore than I have actually using my computer it seems. does anyone have any idea what I can do? I'm frustrated and am kind of a noob at this. Thank you in advance.

Upgrading 2012 MacBook Pro

I’m looking to upgrade the os to Ventura or higher for a mid 2012 MacBook Pro. I’ve watched a YouTube video on using open core legacy patcher. The part where I’m unsure of is… can I install the new os onto an existing ssd without having to completely wipe out/format the drive? I have a large amount of files on the drive that I’d like to keep and don’t have an external drive to transfer to.

If yes, are you able to give me instructions on how to do that. Thanks!!!

Unity Isn't Working After Update on 14.6.1

I'm using a Macbook Pro 2015 and installed 14.6.1 through OpenCore Legacy Patcher, but now my Unity hub isn't able to open any project, I have tried reinstalling Unity hub and installing new Unity 2020 but this doesn't help as well
Whenever I open any project it starts loading after loading unity crashes or doesn't proceed..
Any Solution?

Hackintosh Guide: Installing macOS on HP DY1024WM with Ice Lake i3-1005G1

To create a Hackintosh with your HP DY1024WM (which features an Ice Lake i3-1005G1 CPU, 8GB RAM, and 117GB storage), here's a step-by-step guide.

1. Prepare Your Hardware

Ensure you have the following:
- USB flash drive (at least 16GB).
- Internet access for downloading necessary files.
- A secondary computer (Windows or Mac) to create the macOS installer.

2. Download macOS
You can download macOS versions like Big Sur, Monterey, or Ventura. You'll need a macOS installer from the Mac App Store or elsewhere.

3. Create Bootable USB
On a Mac or a VM running macOS:
- Insert the USB drive.
- Use `Disk Utility` to format it as `Mac OS Extended (Journaled)` and set the scheme to `GUID Partition Map`.
- Open `Terminal` and use the `createinstallmedia` command. For example, for macOS Monterey:
```bash
sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Monterey.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume
```

4. Download OpenCore or Clover Bootloader
For Ice Lake systems like yours, OpenCore is highly recommended due to better support and documentation. Download the latest version from the [OpenCore Github page](https://github.com/acidanthera/OpenCorePkg).

5. Configure OpenCore
- Extract OpenCore files and navigate to the `EFI` folder.
- Copy the EFI folder to your USB drive.
- Now, it’s time to configure the `config.plist` file.

6. Configure config.plist for Ice Lake
You’ll need to configure the `config.plist` for your HP laptop. Key considerations:
- **ACPI Patches:** Ice Lake systems typically need custom ACPI patches.
- **Kernel Patches:** Ensure the `config.plist` includes patches for Ice Lake support.
- **Graphics:** You may need to enable `AAPL,ig-platform-id` for Intel's integrated graphics. For Ice Lake, the ID is often `00009B3E`.
- **USB Mapping:** Use a tool like `Hackintool` to create a custom USB map.
- **SMBIOS:** Use an SMBIOS profile for a similar Mac, such as a MacBookPro16,2.

7. Install macOS
1. Insert the USB drive into your HP DY1024WM.
2. Boot from the USB by pressing the appropriate key (F9 for HP).
3. Select the USB drive from the OpenCore boot menu.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install macOS to your internal drive.

8. Post-Installation
Once macOS is installed:
- Mount the EFI partition of your internal drive.
- Copy the EFI folder from the USB to the EFI partition.
- Reboot your system and select your macOS drive from the OpenCore boot menu.

9. Fix Audio, Wi-Fi, and Other Issues
- **Audio:** Install the correct kext (e.g., `AppleALC`) for your audio chip.
- **Wi-Fi:** Most likely, the built-in Wi-Fi won’t work. You’ll need a supported dongle or replace the card with a compatible one.
- **Power Management:** Use `SSDT` patches specific to your CPU for optimal power management.

Final Thoughts:
You'll need to tailor the `config.plist` further depending on your exact hardware setup. Use tools like `ProperTree` for editing the `config.plist` and follow Ice Lake-specific guides available on forums like InsanelyMac or Reddit.

Let me know if you need specific config.plist settings for your machine!

Reverted Root Patched and no screen now

So after several frustrating nights of trying to use OCLP to get Sonoma on my 12,1 iMac I finally succeeded this afternoon. I changed the graphics card to a wx4150 and it read as an AMD Polaris. I reverted root patches to then reapply them for my updated wifi/bluetooth card but now my screen is black. I will note it also didn’t have the backlight working at all post Graphics card upgrade but I was able to work through that. Is there anyway for me to apply the root patches like through the boot menu or do I literally need to uninstall and reinstall everything all over again. Please help!

Any idea what this error might be?

Any idea what this error might be?

Hey got a thinkpad t480s currently running Ventura with no issue. I wanted to try and run sequoia and see if I could have working wifi/bluetooth with my Apple Card on it using the tool (can’t remember name right now).

It boots no issues to Ventura for about 4-5 months now I believe. I made a separate partition and downloaded the installer. Installed to that partition and then hit restart. Tried to boot efi from my usb (which works with Ventura) and it goes and then restarts everytime I somewhat got a screen shot as I have to record a video it goes so fast. Ideas for me?

Why is ethernet not working for me in the installer?

For some reason, every time I boot into the sonoma installer, ethernet just simply does not work. (not even detected)

I have an MSI B760, which uses the Realtek® RTL8125BG 2.5G LAN controller. This means that is should be covered by the LucyRTL8125Ethernet kext, however, ethernet does not work for me even with this kext installed.

Why could this be happening? Is there another kext or SSDT that I should be using?

Please Help: Ventura on 27'' iMac (late 2013)

Please Help: Ventura on 27'' iMac (late 2013)

Hi, I'm using a 27'' iMac (late 2013) that runs on MacOS Catalina 10.15.7. I want to update to Ventura using OCLP 1.5.0

Doubts:

  1. Should I update to Big Sur, or is it okay to go to Ventura? (My iMac support OCLP Ventura installation.)
  2. I should go ahead with the new opencore patcher.pkg rather than the GUI app, right? What should I do with the Autopkg-Assets.pkg then? When should I install that, or is it installed automatically with the patcher app?
  3. I'm now getting a very new version of Ventura which is 13.6.9, that was updated on 14th August 2024 - no tutorial videos mention this version. Should I install that latest version, or should I stick with an older version?

About iGPU DRM decoding

So It seems DRM decoding doesn’t work for iGPU only system since macOS Sierra(Apple music Lossless, Apple TV, Netflix or Amazon Prime video playback on Safari)

My hackintosh system is ThinkPad T470 with 7th gen Kaby lake intel HD Graphics 620. I first tried hackintosh with MacBookPro16,2. Everything worked but Apple Music Lossless and Radio didn’t work as they need DRM decoding which my iGPU doesn’t support.

I searched for the solution on internet and found out if I use MacPro7,1 or iMacPro1,1 SMBIOS, Apple music Lossless and radio works. My question is, how is it actually working just changing SMBIOS? As long as I know those two devices are iGPU less systems(Xeon) so I thought “It won’t even display anything or I’ll miss graphic acceleration” but I was wrong and actually fixed some DRM decoding issue?

I actually don't know if my graphics is optimised and has graphics accelarations, I don't know how to do it (I'm actually a newbie of this world).

Gigabyte Z270x install issues

Hi!

I've looked into the config.plist. AppleALC + Whatevergreen is installed, yet no audio...

I've also added the FV T919 changes so I get WiFi.

Any ideas about the audio?

Hi there. Remember this is a graphics thread, not audio.

Have you tried the AMFIPass.kext ? I can see the boot-argument amfi=0x80, but perhaps you need the full kext for Sonoma as it seems as though the AppleALC.kext may not be being loaded. You can always check with the kextstat Terminal...

Brightness goes down to black screen on itself!

I successfully installed macOS ventura with almost everything working on my HP elitebook x360 1030 G3

However, for some odd reason, if I tried to use the screen in an angle more than 180 degrees, the screen shows as if you are lowering the brightness until the screen goes totally off.

Then you can get the screen back even if you tried to change the brightness using the keys. The laptop is still on and you can hear it if you clicked on any button but black screen after going beyond 180 degrees until you force restart.

Quick look red glitch (Updated from Catalina to Monetary) SMBIOS related?

Hi, my current machine has been updated from Catalina to Monetary, OC 0.9.9. Hardware i7 8700K coffee lake CPU, Vega 64, MSI Z70Pro Mobo. I'm getting a red glitch on using quick look. Quick look works but I didn't have the glitch until I updated to Monetary. I am using Imac Pro 1,1 SMBIOS. Igpu or multi-monitor mode in BIOS is disabled. Should I maybe be using Imac 19,1 instead? I have full H.264 & HEVC encoding available as shown in VideoProc. I normally have reduce transparency option in Accessibility turned on, if I turn this off the glitch is much less noticeable, almost like there isn't enough time to see it. Has anyone come across this before?

HELP!

Late 2012 iMac. First time doing this. I messed up, I did Ventura then I had lots of issues to tried to update to Sonoma. Then it kept getting stuck so I tried to factory reset. Now everything is gone (which is okay didn’t have anything important on this one). Now I’m stuck on recovery mode and I’m not sure if the open core patcher is not allowing my computer to connect to the internet. Don’t know where to go from here. Two things: I have open core Sonoma on a hard drive. And I can follow instructions just someone that knows how to either downgrade and remove open core without internet. Or if they know if there is a work around. Please help!

Mac Mini Server Mid 2010 (Macmini 4,1) - OCLP issues, help please

Mac Mini Server Mid 2010 (Macmini 4,1) - OCLP issues, help please

Hi! I have been struggling with installing Big Sur (or any other supported OS to be honest) to my gf's 2010 Mac Mini. She needs to install InCopy 2024 for a job and we can't afford a new Mmac yet.

Backstory:

  • I replaced 1 of the 2 HDDs with a compatible Kingston SSD, 480 GB.

-I installed the latest supported version, MacOS High Sierra, and updated everything to the latest version. I even managed to install High Sierra to both drives separately to have an OS to build the OpenCore LP drives when installations fail.

  • I downloaded OCLP 1.5.0, and used it to download the latest version of Big Sur. I created an installation drive and proceeded with the installation following their guide.

The first few attempts resulted in "proper" installation procedures but the first boot would get stuck on the loading bar.

I eventually enabled debugging in the OCLP drive, and found that it was getting stuck due to a Kernel Panic error:

Sorry for the picture, High Sierra is appearenlty not supported by EFIMOUNT.

I then attempted to install High Sierra again, after seeing a post recommending that the OCLP installation be done on top of the latest version of the supported OS.

I attempted the fix described in stuck-on-boot-after-root-patching. My terminal rejected the xargs command, but I was able to list and delete every non-HighPoint or SoftRAID file.

That failed similarly. I couldn't boot even to an unpatched version.

The second series of attempts involved trying the following combinations and outcomes, some on the HDD, some on the SDD, for a change:

  1. OCLP 1.3.0 + Big Sur -> Stuck on first boot
  2. OCLP 1.5.0 + Monterrey -> Kernel Panic (see ss)
  3. OCLP 1.0.1 + Monterrey -> Loading bar stuck again
  4. OCLP 1.4.2 + Sonoma -> Installer couldn't see my drives
  5. OCLP 1.5.0 + Sonoma -> Installer completes, gets loading bar stuck at the end.

I'm currently on day 4 of attempting to do something different that gets me through:

I'm trying OCLP 1.5.0 + Big Sur with debugging, as I'm typing this. If you need any logs or screenshots or information to point in a better direction, just say so, I'm starting to feel desperate at this point.

Late 2012 Mac Mini, unable to finish Sonoma install

It gets all the way through the install until it’s time to reboot to the internal drive to finish the install, but this just happens.

I’ll try my usual troubleshooting, remaking the installer USB disk, and making sure this new SSD I put in this thing works. But I’ve been doing this for years on my Mac Pro 5,1 and have never seen an error like this so I thought I’d post.

Got this far, but nothing happens after

What the state of this subreddit?

What the state of this subreddit?

No one is talking about it so I felt the obligation to

First of all the subreddit is full of people asking the same question either about wanting a prebuilt EFI or using a RTX card or flat out wanting someone to hackintosh for them, why are the mods not deleting those flood posts? It is genuinely going to ruin search results for people that might be wanting a genuine answer but only find garbage

Second of all why is the subreddit theme still on Monterey? Like come on now it's 3 versions behind at this point would it be hard to update 2 pictures?

Even then the small icon picture is off centered and is driving me crazy.

I am not belittling the effort of the mod team, I am sure they are pretty busy but come on now this sub needs more moderation if we want to stay organized.

Thanks for attending my yap session

Waking from sleep problem

So i have near perfect build, running sonoma 14.5 and everything works fine. Just one thing is driving me crazy and thats the sleep. The sleep function works fine, i close the lid and it goes to sleep state. when i open it it wakes up, thats fine. But when i leave it closed and "sleeping" overnight it goes to i guess a hibernation mode? it basically turns off i guess and stores the files to the internal drive. But when i want to wake the computer from that state it goes to a Dell logo, starts booting for a split second, then shuts off and restarts. Then it jus starts up as if i fully turned the laptop off. Every app loads from scratch and my stuff is gone. Any way to have it waking with all open? i dont mind the hard sleep overnight, great for the battery but i want a more seamless experience. Just a note, my laptop had a bios update which forces the modern sleep and doesnt allow swicthing back to the classic one if that is relevant here. The laptpp is Dell Latitude 7490, all usbs are correctly mapped, thunderbolt turned off to save battery. Thanks in advance for answers!
