Unsupported Mid-2010 MACPro Problems after upgrading Sonoma 14.4.1 to 14.5k using OCLP

I have a MacPro desktop mid-2010 on which I upgraded consecutively over time from Sierra to each version of MacOS that Apple would support and then I ventured into unsupported territory upgrading via DosDude and then OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP) all the way to Sonoma (except for Ventura). Along the way, I did not stumble over any impediments until Sonoma 14.4.1. At that point I only ran into a problem with the resolutions of my primary and secondary monitors. I found BetterDispalys Ver. 2.3.9 Build 31313 and purchased the Pro version which helped me overcome the monitor resolution problem.

More serious troubles began when I used OCLP to upgrade to Sonoma 14.5.

My configuration is:

MacPro Mid-2010, MacPro5,1

6-Core Intel Xeon CPU X5670

Westmere

32 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

AMD Radeon RX 580 8 GB

Metal: Supported, feature set macOS GPUFamily1 v3

My 1st problem after upgrade to Sonoma 14.5 was I lost the Sonoma wallpaper. The only wallpaper I could put into use was a photo. Not a big problem and it was a work around, however, I wondered if losing the standard wall paper options might be an indication of some greater problem.

2nd problem occurred while using Upscayl Ver. 2.11.5 to upscale photos. Using Upscayl with Sonoma 14.4.1 there were no problems making upscales. However, the first time I tried Upscayl with Sonoma 14.5 it refused to complete the operation and gave this error message:

vkCreateInstance failed -9

[mvk-error] VK_ERROR_INCOMPATIBLE_DRIVER: Vulkan is not supported on this device. MoltenVK requires Metal, which is not available on this device.

🚨 Error: Invalid GPU Device

[Strange since my AMD Radeon RX 580 8gb GPU lists itself as supporting metal.]

3rd Problem: My monitors randomly freeze but then after 1-3 minutes they unlock and I can continue using them. Or, the monitors freeze but then drop to a login page showing the standard Sonoma wallpaper. When I type in my login credentials all windows on both monitors open as they were when they dropped to a login page.

4th Problem: Pressing my mouse does not aways produce results until it does, using the mouse to drag open windows to a new location is very slow. I use a wireless mouse with a dongle plugged into a USB port. I slightly alleviated the problem by removing the dongle and plugging in a wired USB mouse.

One application, Evernote 10.95.6-mac-ddl-public (20240708175934), refused to open, however after a shut down and reboot it now, but not known for how long, opens.

I only have one video game, World of Tanks, and it refuses to open popping up a window exclaiming World of Tanks quit unexpectedly.

Facebook Messenger refuses to open. It always pops up a window exclaiming Messenger quit unexpectedly.

I have only reset PRAM/NVRAM but have not seen any noticeable improvements, that is, all problems above still exist.
