MacBookPro13,3 Frozen on Sonoma Boot

So this isn't the usual request for help - I've managed to fix it, I've just added this so that someone looking for help may find it.

I needed my old MacBookPro while I'm away from the office, so I thought I'd do some updates, and was surprised to find that it's no longer getting any updates.

I've used OCLP in the past so I checked compatibility and everything looked compatible... It was time.

Installed with the new installer, and restarted. Instantly software update told me I needed to update to Sonoma. Could it really be this easy?

The install went fine, but when it restarted to boot into Sonoma, I typed my password and the progress bar started moving. I waited hours, but it didn't work; based on past experiences, I just hit restart and waited (a few times). I was able to boot in safe mode and apply the post patches, but it didn't change anything.

Great. I now had an unusable MacBook.

I noticed something strange though; one time when I restarted the touchbar was active and was showing as if I was in Google Chrome! A few touchbar presses and I knew I certainly was in Chrome, and the computer was definitely active!

Now, I realised the computer wasn't frozen, the display had just stopped working on each boot.

This was where things got better. I plugged in an external display using a USB-C hub with a HDMI port, and sure enough - everything worked as expected on the external monitor. I re-applied the post patches (not in safe mode), rebooted, and now had a fully working system.

I'm yet to find any issues with the install once that was done. Everything works perfectly and feels fast af.
