Hey everyone, I've been trying to install Sonoma on my dad's 2009 Macmini (upgraded with SSD and 8GB of RAM) but I've had little success so far. I read on the github page that you shouldn't try to install 14.4 on non-metal GPU Macs, so I grabbed the 14.0 version of Sonoma (along with the 1.0.1 version of Opencore Legacy Patcher) and tried to make a USB installer with it.
Everything worked fine, I created the macOS installer and installed Opencore on the USB drive, rebooted, selected the Opencore EFI boot and then finally the Sonoma installer. Everything seemed ok, the apple logo and the progress bar appeared, but after reaching roughtly 1/3 of the way through the prohibited sign (🚫) replaced the Apple logo, and that was that.
What am I doing wrong? The Macmini at the moment is running Catalina with the Catalina patcher, could that be causing any issues? Is it just incompatible with the Macmini 3,1? I saw this video of a youtuber installing it on his Macmini, so I assume it should be doable?
I was considering trying to install it directly on the disk instead of using a USB stick, but I doubt that would solve the issue and would probably just cause even more problems. Am I wrong? Thank you in advance for any advice! It's my first time using the Opencore Legacy Patcher so I don't fully know what I'm doing
