Hello smart people of r/hackintosh
I’m having a hard time figuring out whether I’m missing out on performance by not utilising my iGPU alongside my dGPU. I’ve read that many parts of macOS rely on the iGPU, even when a dGPU is present.
I am currently running Sonoma on a i5-4690K(Haswell, 4600 HD) with AMD RX 590 as the dGPU using the MacPro7.1 smbios meaning the igpu is disabled.
I am thinking of either dropping down to Monterey(where my igpu is still supported) in order to run with my dGPU driving the display and the igpu in headless mode using a fitting iMac smbios
Alternative is to try and use OCLP to have my igpu work on the unsupported sonoma alongside my dGPU, but this seem a bit off to me.
Last option is of course to just continue with my current setup with just a dGPU and iGPU disabled. But I also don’t want to cripple my performance, then I would rather drop to Monterey
Hope you guys can relate to my fear of missing out and shine some light on the topic ☺️
