Hi all.
I have a 2012 Mac Mini i7 pulling server duties (NAS, Time Machine backups, Plex, Homebridge etc.) that I've been keeping up to date with OCLP's help. I have it on a clean install of Sonoma 14.4 then the normal update process to get it to 14.5. Over the last several weeks/months the Windowserver is crashing pretty regularly over night. I've tried the simple stuff (rebuild Open Core, reapply root patches, PRAM/SMC resets, etc) and nothing seems to be improving the reliability.
I'm at the point of considering slicking the system drive and downgrading maybe as far as Monterrey. I've seen a few posts about Ventura having similar Windowserver issues. This feels like an Opencore issue maybe as my M1/M2 machines have had ZERO Windowserver crashes on Sonoma.
Has anyone cracked the code on Windowserver crashes? Any recommendations on which OS to go to if/when I downgrade? Thanks for your time.
