 | Hi, I am making a USB map using USBToolbox on Windows. Trying to make sure I understand what everything is used for. Here is what I have currently determined: ports 1-25 are main controller, 26-29 are 2nd controller (for TB) The numbering is based on USBToolBox discovery output. I am showing how things physically are laid out top to bottom, or left to right when facing rear or front of case. Pairings (USB2/USB3 personality pairs) Front: 7/23 8/24 9/25 type C Rear 12/28 type C 1/17 13/29 type C 2/18 6/22 5/21 4/20 3/19 All are USB 3 types. Then we have Port 10 is USB 2.0 hub Port 11 is AURA LED controller Port 14 is Bluetooth Then some that are unknown to me: 15, 16: never show up in USBToolBox when I plug something in, shown as internal USB 2. What are these? Related to port 10 USB 2 hub? 26,27: never show up when I plug something in, shown as USB internal in USBToolBox, but Hackintool shows Type C switch. IOReg also shows type 9 connectors. What are these? They are shown as HS01 and HS02 for this TB controller. One would think that is USB2 pairing, but controller 1 already has ports 12 and 13 shown as pairing with the TB SSP1 and SSP2 ports. Or are these ports 26 an 27 some sort of internal intermediary so that ports 12 and 13 on other controller take over? Ideas? I am using Binding Disabled in order to arrive at my selection of a combination of 15 ports for controller 1 across USB 2 and 3. 2nd controller I am not mapping since it has only 4 and those will be seen in Mac. Here is how I have currently mapped: Front 7/23 8/24 9/25 Rear __/28 type C (I disabled the USB 2 personality of this type C port) 1/17 (I disabled the USB 2 personality of this port) __/29 type C (I disabled the USB 2 personality of this type C port) 2/18 6/__ 5/__ __/20 __/19 ( so I have this row of 4 USB ports from left to right as USB2 USB2 USB3 USB3) Then internal stuff: 10 USB 2 internal hub 11 Aura LED 14 internal BT My 15 mapped for controller 1 are 1,2,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,14,17,18,19,20,25 Then all four for controller 2 ports 26,27,28,29 unmapped, but visible in mac. Ok, with that out of the way... Here is what I see in hackintool: In USBToolBox, those first 2 ports under the TB controller, shown above as HS01, HS02, are detected as USB internal. So interesting that they appear as Type C here, though that makes more sense as they are part of the TB ports. Things with USB seem to work as I expect. Devices work that I expect to work based on map. I just wonder if I am missing some understanding of ports 10,15,16,26,27. thanks [link] [comments] |
