I didn't think I'd be doing another Hackintosh so late in the game, but here I am.
Specs:
- Asus VivoBook S533FA-DB71-CA
- CPU: i7-10510U
- GPU: UHD 620
- SSD: Intel 512GB 660p
- RAM: 8GB (soldered, not upgradeable)
- Audio Codec: ALC256
- Ethernet: none
- Wifi/BT Card: Intel AX201
- Touchpad: ELAN1300
- BIOS revision: 304
What's working:
- Booting quickly to macOS Sonoma 14.5
- Graphics acceleration
- Wifi and Bluetooth
- Keyboard and trackpad
- All USB ports
- Audio
- Webcam
- microSD card reader
- Display brightness
- Sleep and wake
- Battery readout and charging
What’s not working (so far):
- Unsure if sleep is actually working, SSDT customization still needs to be done
- HDMI output (tried framebuffer-con patches which failed, possibly need a different SMBIOS)
- Fingerprint reader (will never work)
Untested:
- iCloud services, but I've never failed setting these up before
- Handoff / Continuity, but I have don't ever plan on using these features
- The second m.2 slot for an NVMe drive, but I don't anticipate problems
Other notes:
- The laptop has a poor TN display panel that will be upgraded to IPS.
- The build quality on this laptop is quite good with most of it being made of aluminum and the trackpad covered with glass.
- The speakers are mediocre at best and the webcam is just plain awful.
- I wish it charged with USB-C.
- I'd like to dual boot with Windows 11 later on using the second m.2 slot.
- The battery has degraded below 50% of it's rated life and I will replace it.
