Apple MacBook Pro i5 2.6 8GB Ram 13" Mid-2014 - should I update?

Hi, I am using this laptop:

MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.6 13" Mid-2014

2.6 GHz Core i5 (I5-4278U)

8GB RAM, 256 GB SSD

and am currently on macOS Big Sur.

I'd like to update, but I'm not sure which of the next versions will behave best without slowing down and interfering with normal operation.

Anyone else with such a laptop that has updated can share an opinion?
