Is it possible to customize what root patches get installed? Or remove only certain patches after the fact?

I have been trying for almost a week to get my eGPU working on anything higher than Monterey with my 2016 MBP 13,3.

I have ran Sonoma on here before beautifully but never owned an eGPU before. For testing I decided to try Ventura first before updating back to Sonoma, since I recently wiped the whole system anyway.

On a whim I decided to remove the root patches for my system after installing Ventura. Rebooted and like magic now my eGPU now works! The GPU is a natively supported Radeon Pro W5700.

The 2016 MacBook Pro requires patches for the Intel Skylake iGPU and the AMD dGPU. I’m not sure what the patches do exactly because everything seems to be running fine without them, including the internal display. Well, so far anyway, it’s only been like five minutes. But I did notice that in System Information the Intel iGPU is just recognized as “Display” and the AMD dGPU is recognized as “AMD Radeon Polaris”. But my eGPU is detected perfectly as a “AMD Radeon Pro W5700”

I never plan on using this MacBook without the eGPU ever again, it’s basically a “desktop” from here on out. So what can I do moving forward to ensure (as best as possible) that my eGPU will continue working? Even if it means the internal GPUs or even the internal display stop working entirely at some point. I would imagine just not installing the root patches at all will likely become an issue for other components at some point, probably as soon as MacOS 15 if it even supports Intel at all when it comes out.
