Guide:
Troubleshooting USB Install Partition Visibility in Clover:
Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Ensure that your BIOS/UEFI settings are configured to boot from the USB drive containing the Mojave installer.
Clover Configuration:
- Verify that your Clover configuration is set up correctly to detect and boot from the USB installer partition.
- Double-check the EFI folder content and configuration settings to ensure compatibility with your hardware.
USB Compatibility:
- Test the USB drive on another system to confirm that it's working correctly and recognized by other systems.
- Try using a different USB port on your computer to rule out any port-related issues.
Installing Mojave on HFS+ Partition:
Partitioning:
- Boot from the USB installer drive containing Mojave.
- Enter Disk Utility from the macOS Utilities menu.
- Partition your target drive and format it as HFS+ (Mac OS Extended) instead of APFS.
Installing Mojave:
- Proceed with the Mojave installation process as usual.
- When prompted to select the installation destination, choose the HFS+ partition you created earlier.
- Complete the installation process, and your system will reboot into the newly installed Mojave on the HFS+ partition.
Clover Configuration:
- Once Mojave is installed, boot back into Clover from your USB drive.
- Mount the EFI partition of your Mojave installation drive.
- Copy the EFI folder from your USB installer drive to the EFI partition of your Mojave installation drive.
- Reboot your system and select the Mojave installation from Clover to boot into your newly installed Mojave on the HFS+ partition.
Conclusion:
By following these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to resolve the issue of the USB install partition not being detected by Clover and successfully install Mojave on an HFS+ partition instead of APFS. Remember to double-check your BIOS/UEFI settings, Clover configuration, and USB compatibility to ensure a smooth installation process.
Hello, so I want to hackintosh again after long. I want MOJAVE, nothing above. I found the right EFI folder for my unit (actually, there are quite a few on GitHub.
I used the createinstallmedia command and copied the EFI folder on the boot partition. Problem: while clover boots, the partition where Mojave install is DOESN'T show up.
Never had such issue before (done dozen of hackintosh the past). What could it be? Next, once this is resolved, I want to know the exact process how to install MOJAVE on HFS+ partition, I don't want APFS!
