Mid 2011 imac on Sonoma does not want to display in 1080p on external monitor (mini display to VGA)

I have a mid 2011 imac that I have upgraded to Sonoma with OCLP.

Everything works great except as soon as I change the external monitor display resolution to 1080p it loses signal and only displays again when I change the resolution back to 1360x768 (or any smaller resolution)

The external display is a 32 inch JVC TV but it was tried on a 24 inch Samsung monitor as well but no luck.

Any ideas?
