Using OpenCore to downgrade MBP

I need to make an A2279 (8th Gen i5) pretend it’s an A1989 (same hardware specs), in order to run Mojave. Yes, I can use Parallels, and I have it working, but I’m trying to find ways to reduce power consumption, and Parallels adds a significant load. I’d like to avoid that.

I’ve been playing with OC on this machine, but I’ve had no joy. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to set up the config to make this work, and more importantly, how to back it out if it breaks things?

I did play with OC a bit several years ago, so I’m not a complete novice.

Thanks for any ideas!
