Hello everyone,
I have a 2011 MacBook Pro 8, originally running High Sierra. I recently attempted to install Sonoma to replace the existing operating system. Here's the process I followed:
- I used a USB drive to download OpenCoreLegacy and Sonoma.
- I created a bootable USB drive with OpenCoreLegacy and used it to boot my MacBook Pro.
- I installed Sonoma on an HDD and successfully booted from there.
- Subsequently, I replaced the HDD with an SSD, which I formatted to NTFS using GParted.
- I then tried to install Sonoma on the SSD using the OPCL USB drive, but I'm encountering an issue: I can't boot without the USB drive. When I click "Build", only the USB drive is listed, not the SSD.
I'm using Sonoma version 14.1.0 and updated OPCL from version 1.1.0 to 1.3.1 on the USB drive. So far, I'm stuck at the step where I can't boot directly from the SSD without the USB drive.
I'm wondering if you have any advice on how to solve this issue. Should I persevere with Sonoma and retry the installation with new ideas, or should I consider trying Monterey, perhaps it would be more compatible with my 2011 MacBook Pro?
I'm open to any suggestions or similar experiences you may have encountered. Thanks in advance for your help!
