 | Hi everyone! Today I attempted to upgrade my 2010 Mac Pro 5,1 from Monterey 12.7.3 to Somona 14.3.1, which worked, although I am facing graphics problems. My machine specs are as listed: 2010 Mac Pro 5,1 2 x 3.46 GHz Intel Xeon X5690 48 GB RAM AMD Radeon RX 580 Due to my Metal GPU not allowing the EFI bootloader to appear, I use my original NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 during OCLP installs. For the upgrade itself, this worked great, and install was successful. When macOS was loaded, I was faced with the usual screen tearing, altered graphics, and non-functional WiFi/Bluetooth due to the post-install root patches not being applied. However, I didn't want to apply these at first since I don't want NVIDIA patches to be applied to my machine when I use a Metal compatible AMD card. Thus, I shut down my system and installed my RX 580. When booting up, I see the OpenCore bootloader and my drive begins to boot. When the progress bar hits around 30-40%, my screen goes black (not no signal, but just an all black screen). After waiting around 5 minutes, my computer will restart and the same behavior will persist. This behavior occurs both when booting from OpenCore on my SSD and OpenCore on my flashdrive. In an attempt to figure out why this was happening, I popped back in my NVIDIA card, applied the root patches, and then put my AMD card back in. The same thing occured once again. Since my NVIDIA card can actually get into my OS, I put it back in and could boot just fine. With the root paches installed, I now have graphics acceleration, however the colors of everything are all jumbled up, as shown in the image below. When booting into macOS with my NVIDIA card after trying to boot with the AMD card, I can view the panic that results in the reboot after I am faced with the black screen, which I have attached below. Any help would be greatly appriciated! I know OCLP version 1.4.0 is on the rise, so maybe I just need to wait for that to solve my issues.
