Is my hard drive toasted?

Hello, I have a late 2015 iMac 27". Yesterday, I restarted my iMac and as it was loading up onto my user account, it turned into the prohibitory sign with the apple URL for start up, it was functioning fine up until then so it's a bit of a surprise. Following the instructions from the URL, I had to reinstall the OS to El Capitan however there were not disks to select so I ended up having to create a partition from the SSD.

It's probably now impossible for me to retrieve all of my data however for some reason, my disk now only has 24GB and it did not allow me to chose the storage when creating the partitioning as 24GB was the max it could allow. The iMac originally had 256GB but now it's down to 24GB and the other +200GB is no where to be seen.

Does this mean my hard drive is pretty much dead and needs a replacement? Highly appreciate any replies
