Fixing Graphics Issues on Hackintosh with Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti

Guide:

If you're experiencing graphics issues, particularly with low VRAM detection and black screens, on your Hackintosh with an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti, here's a step-by-step guide to help you resolve the problem and achieve full graphics acceleration:

1. Verify Graphics Card Compatibility:

  • Ensure that your Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti is fully compatible with macOS Monterey and the drivers available for it. Check online resources and forums to confirm compatibility and recommended settings.

2. Remove Unnecessary Boot Args:

  • Remove any unnecessary boot arguments from your config.plist file. While some boot arguments may be necessary for initial setup, having too many can sometimes cause conflicts or issues with graphics acceleration.

3. Update Nvidia Web Drivers:

  • Install the latest Nvidia Web Drivers compatible with macOS Monterey for your GTX 1050 Ti graphics card. These drivers provide optimized performance and compatibility with Nvidia GPUs on macOS.

4. Verify Nvidia GPU Recognition:

  • Ensure that your Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti is properly recognized by macOS Monterey. Check System Information under "Graphics/Displays" to confirm that the correct Nvidia GPU is detected and that the VRAM is accurately reported.

5. Patch AGDP.kext:

  • Patch the AGDP.kext file to enable Nvidia graphics card support on Monterey. You can find patches and instructions for patching this file online or through Hackintosh community forums.

6. Check Lilu and WhateverGreen Kexts:

  • Make sure you have the latest versions of Lilu.kext and WhateverGreen.kext installed in your EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Others directory. These kexts provide essential patches and fixes for graphics-related issues on Hackintosh systems.

7. Enable Nvidia Graphics:

  • Add the necessary boot arguments in your config.plist file to enable Nvidia graphics. Common boot arguments include "nvda_drv=1" and "ngfxcompat=1". These arguments instruct macOS to use the Nvidia GPU for graphics acceleration.

8. Verify NVRAM:

  • Ensure that NVRAM is properly configured on your system. NVRAM is essential for saving boot arguments and other system settings. Use tools like Clover Configurator to check and configure NVRAM settings as needed.

9. Test and Troubleshoot:

  • Reboot your system and test the graphics performance. Monitor the System Information for accurate VRAM detection and check for any improvements in graphics acceleration and performance. If you encounter black screens or other issues, revert to a known working configuration and continue troubleshooting.

By following these steps and ensuring proper configuration of your Hackintosh system with an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti, you should be able to resolve graphics issues and achieve full acceleration on macOS Monterey. Remember to always backup your EFI folder and important files before making any changes to your system configuration.

Help with graphics

I have managed to install Monterey on my amd pc, ryzen 3 3100 and gtx 1050 ti, I have now installed a root patch with oclp and managed to boot the system. The graphics have improved a little and now animations work a little bit better, but it still displays 8mb graphics memory, now it says nvidia chip aside from that. My boot args are amfi_get_out_of_my_way=0x1, ngfxcompat=1, ngfxgl=1, nvda_drv_vrl=1. With these it trurned into blackscreen, but when i added nv_disable=1, it booted, and now i don’t know what i need to do in order to get full acceleration. Thank you.
