In a recent success post, I detailed my steps in creating a functioning Sonoma install for my HP EliteDesk 800 G3. This machine uses an Intel Core i7-6700T, of the Skylake family, and hosts an abundance of comparability issues with Ventura and Sonoma. Although I was able to successfully spoof my CPU to a Kaby Lake, Intel Core i7-7700K, it was noted that HD 6XX graphics support was dropped in Sonoma; Does this mean I have to spoof to yet another CPU? I’ve done as much research as possible, but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find many answers. Since the OpenCore guide hasn't been updated for Sonoma yet, I'm entirely lost at what to do. I’ve seen a few people on forums mention that you’ll have to spoof SMBIOS to one compatible with Coffee Lake, but I’m already using iMac 19,1, which should already be compatible? It's been mentioned that if you're able to correctly spoof your CPU to one that uses HD 630 graphics, over my i7-6700T's HD 530 graphics, that Sonoma should work fine, as long as Ventura did. I can confirm, this is true— literally everything works just fine, except I absolutely cannot get MacOS to drive my display to it’s native resolution, full 4K. Instead, since having updated from Ventura to Sonoma, I’m only able run my display up to 2560x1440. I’m not entirely sure if this is an issue related to CPU spoofing, I could just be blaming this for no reason; but to me, it seems like the most likely culprit. Obviously, I want to fix my display and run 4K again, but I was unsure if spoofing to a different CPU would actually fix this. I'm totally lost on where I should be, and would greatly appreciate if someone could help me understand the current state of Skylake, better. Unfortunately, since updating, I’m also facing DRM issues that I haven’t experienced before. Apple Music worked on Ventura, but having reached Sonoma, it refuses to play anything at all. I've read that SMBIOS and AAPL,ig-platform-id can contribute to these issues, so I’m unsure if this is related to having spoofed my machine, then updated to Sonoma. I haven’t attempted any DRM workarounds from the OpenCore guide yet, I was hoping to assess the spoofing issue first, just to confirm that they aren’t related. I’m also entirely unable to play any HEVC content, which is very disappointing as a videographer/editor. I’m unsure what aspect of MacOS would be causing this issue, I haven’t been able to use HEVC in any other OS on this system either. I would greatly appreciate any advice at all, I’m welcome to assist anyone in the comments with similar questions. I’m at a dead end as far as documented resources go, so any input means a lot; Thank you all for your time. Below I will include an image that references my config.plist, as well as an instance of VDADecoderChecker, that proves my hardware acceleration is working. [link] [comments] |
